Cuvaison Chardonnay Estate Grown Napa Valley 2014

Do you know how we get rock-solid, delicious, classic wines like Cuvaison Napa Chardonnay at prices that would make Costco, BevMo, Total Wine and so many others blush? Well, because we’re so easy on the eyes, of course...totally kidding, but WOW! We crushed this deal --- this is a white that we call “case-worthy”, because it’s a classic, a jaw-dropping deal, and you ALWAYS need some solid, yummy, reliable Napa Valley Chardonnay around. Are we right??

Just a silly price. What’s it like?? 'Mmmm' is what is, with crisp fresh and baked apples, a little Meyer lemon, a little pear, a little bit of dulce de leche, nicely balanced and not overly oaky --- clean and rock-solid!! THE PRICE! Man, if we had a wedding or any large gathering coming up (that reminds us, how far away is Thanksgiving…?), THIS is what we'd stock up on.

Not a whole lot to go around (why we saved it for Sunday), so please jump on it if this sounds right up your alley -- we all did! Have a great weekend!

Established in 1969, Cuvaison produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown exclusively on its estate vineyard in the heart of the world-renown region of Carneros in Napa Valley. Cooled by fog from the San Pablo Bay, the rolling hills of this certified sustainable estate has produced distinctive Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for over 30 years. Dedicated to a philosophy of producing vineyard-driven wines, Cuvaison employs block by block farming methods and a hand-crafted vineyard-to-bottle winemaking approach. The resulting wines are balanced and complex, showcasing the distinctive characteristics of this cool climate estate. Cuvaison is part of Cuvaison Estate Wines, the family-owned Napa Valley vintner which also farms Brandlin Vineyard, a Napa Valley estate on Mt. Veeder.

About The Producer

Cuvaison has been profoundly influenced by our owners, the Schmidheiny family of Switzerland—fourth-generation vintners who purchased our winery in 1979. After acquiring Cuvaison, the Schmidheiny family immediately cemented our focus on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir by acquiring 400 acres of highly prized land in the Los Carneros region of Napa Valley. In 1991, they began an ambitious program of replanting, while adopting an intimate block-by-block approach to farming to achieve the highest expression of our vineyard and the grape varieties we work with.

Since 2002, gifted winemaker Steve Rogstad has overseen the winemaking at Cuvaison. In addition to being recognized for making many of the finest wines in our storied history, Steve oversaw the construction of our modern smart-shed winery, designed to facilitate the small-lot approach that defines our acclaimed estate-grown wines.

“Great wines don’t come from a single vintage—they are the culmination of years of knowledge and experience” says Steve. “Since 2002, I have had the incredible fortune to work with a grand cru-caliber vineyard to create wines that honor Cuvaison’s historic roots, while also helping to lay the foundation for the next fifty years.”

In 2012, Cuvaison was honored by Wine & Spirits as one of the “Top 100 Wineries on the World.”
