The soaring, kirschy, sweet herb, licorice spice, holiness of Chateauneuf lifts our spirits and our wings..OK, sorry, that’s too much. But, man, we love it and Vieux Donjon is as classic as it gets. Kirsch, pure and fresh as the driven snow. Cherries, savory soy, sweet jam, spicecake, sweet flowers, all in a spectacularly lovely, elegant but concentrated mouth. How many ways can you say wow? This is drinking terrifically RIGHT NOW, at this moment, but will only improve for the next few years if you can wait! LOAD UP while we have it!! Have a great weekend!!

Concentrated flavors of anise, garrigue, dark fruits, game, spice and wild herbs resound in this traditional Chateauneuf from Le Vieux Donjon. The character of the very old (80+ years!) vines and expert winemaking are evident from start to finish.

About The Producer

Le Vieux Donjon was formed in 1966 by Marcel Michel and since 1979 had been managed by Lucien Michel and Marie Michel. Brother and sister team Claire Fabre and François Michel have since taken over. Vineyards are made up of 18 hectares, 17 of which are planted to reds and showcasing the old vine Grenache. With few exceptions only two cuvees- a red and a white are produced each vintage.
