Chateau de Saint Pey Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2015 - Last Bottle

Chateau de Saint Pey Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2015

Sorry, nope, nope, can’t be right. Can it? $20 Bordeaux...St. Emilion Grand Cru, to be exact, with 92-93 POINTS for $20? IT IS. We’re skipping all over the warehouse floor like kids on Christmas morning. We may be old Napa Valley locals, but we still go to France (always a couple days in Bordeaux minimum) at LEAST twice a year --- DIGGING. Digging and tasting and sampling and swirling and BAM!! Here you go -- amazing!!

Got some? Sweet. You’re gonna love this, we are sure…

Sommeliers International did a very nice piece on the winery HERE -- check it out. Hey, we’re not going to argue with a roomful of somms! We loved it back in March when we bought it! This gem just landed in our warehouse last week, SUCH a lovely, packed and rich St. Emilion --- wow! For $20?? Dark and perfumey, it’s like diving into a pool full of red fruits -- plums, pomegranate, toasted spice, nice mineral feel and whiffs of blackberry jam. 2015 is very fine vintage -- we do sincerely hope you can snag as much of this as you can!

St. Emilion, with its famous limestone plateau, serves as the breeding ground for this exceptional Grand Cru.

About The Producer

Respect for the environment is an integral part of our philosophy. We strive to work the soil by plowing, encouraging deeper roots of the vine - a testimony of the expression of our terroir. We are committed to the least possible treatment of the wine. Our choices are based on observation on the vegetative cycle and understanding the terroir to extract the best out of it.

The 17 hectare vineyard has a limestone and clay-limestone soil typical of Saint Emilion, made up of alluvial deposits with a sandy topsoil. The vines have an average age of 40 years and produce wines made from a blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Pairing Suggestions

Wild boar and most red meats, working well with beef and lamb. Grilled steak, burgers, robust cheeses.
