Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five 2015

OK…so…picking jaw up off the floor…

WOW! Do NOT wait a moment more than necessary, we barely have a handful…

COLLECTORS! Lucky Break indeed! That moniker is reserved for special wines that we are truly lucky enough to even GET, and the 97-point Shafer One Point Five from the Stag’s Leap District is about as head-spinning as a lucky break can be. Did we say wow? Goodness, we are short of breath a bit here.

Shafer Vineyards is one of Napa’s MOST-loved wineries. The people behind it (Doug Shafer, of course, and human-beings-don’t get-better-than-this winemaker extraordinaire Elias Fernandez, among others) are salt-of-the-earth guys who just make killer wine year after year, that is so allocated we never get but a few bottles. Seriously, this mind-bending 2015 is a 97-pointer! C’mon!

It is IMPERATIVE that you get a few of these for your cellar. Here are a few comments from the press: “...a fabulous example of the year at its best...extracted black fruit is poised amongst earthy truffle, crushed rock and black pepper...Full-bodied with a strong entrée of black fruit but with driven acidity, muscular tannins and a long finish...Very big, full-bodied and packed with black fruit preserves…”

Well, hard to top that. We couldn’t agree more -- our chests are all puffed up with pride. Shafer! Amazing! FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED…!

One Point Five is a Cabernet Sauvignon that celebrates two things close to our hearts. The name refers to John and Doug Shafer’s 35 year father-and-son partnership. It also honors Stags Leap District, a place we’ve called home since 1973.

About The Producer

John Shafer uprooted his family from Chicago in 1972, and bought 209 acres in what would later become Stag's Leap District. He quickly planted a small parcel of Cabernet in the hillsides above the winery at the advice of Nathan Fay and created his first wine from that planting in 1978, a precursor to their legendary Hillside Select. John's son Doug joined the family biz in 1983 and has helped elevate the winery into the international stardom.
