Terre Nere Rosso di Montalcino 2016 - Last Bottle

Terre Nere Rosso di Montalcino 2016

Tuscan Rosso. It’s EVERYTHING we want to be drinking in the Fall weather. Especially at this uber happy-making price, 91 POINTS to boot! We are heels-over-head crazy for Terre Nere (so are you, as it is a Last Bottle fave for years now, not to mention the wine critics...)

This is so much a “baby brother” to Terre Nere’s awesome Brunello. All that fantastic cherry and dried cherry/cranberry fruit, with a sweet nut cake and literally mouth-watering freshness. It is hard to overstate the brilliance of the 2016 vintage in Tuscany --- you should LOAD UP on these beauties, as we are right now. Wow!

Make a lasagne. Better yet, make Terre Nere’s version (we had it at their place some years ago) -- pear and ricotta lasagne. Open a bottle of this. Revel in the magic that hugs you in its embrace. Life is SO good. Anything else is madness! Get this while we have it -- please! This winery gets hotter every year...you don’t want to miss the 2016s!!

"Wine is like a catchy melody which warms the heart and excites the mind. The vineyard is the music score, the bunches are the notes, and the terroir is the marvelous orchestra." Terre Nere - Campigli Vallone

Rosso di Montalcino Terre Nere DOC which has a ruby red color with garnet reflections, expresses hints of maraschino and violet. Great fineness in the mouth with young tannins but is still of excellent quality and freshness and leaves a delight fully fruity aftertaste

About The Producer

The Terre Nere estate stretches over 15 ha (37 acres) of property, at an elevation of 280 meters, south south-east, 10 km from Montalcino. 10 ha (25 acres) are planted in vines, in the hamlet of Castelnuovo dell’Abate, on the slopes leading up to the hilltop Castle of Velona. The vineyards are nestled in a setting of rare beauty, surrounded by pristine forests and a microclimate ideal for the cultivation of the vine. All the vineyards are in hilly areas and enjoy excellent sun exposure.

The Cellars, currently located at the locality Pian delle Querci, 7 km from the centre of Montalcino, is divided in two structures: one for vinification and fermentation and one for aging. The grapes, manually picked during the harvest, are transported in small baskets, and after a careful selection of the bunches, are vinified in stainless steel tanks of 50,70, and 100 hl. The harvest involves the entire Vallone family, in fact every member.
