Wind Gap Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2014 - Last Bottle

Wind Gap Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2014

The GAP is back! PAX MAHLE’s wines are much beloved (we probably don’t need to tell YOU that!) --- to see this at well-below 50% OFF pricing is…just…so GNARLY! Get as much as you can! 93 POINTS Vinous!

*** really: hurry. The last Pax wine we did was gone in less than an hour…

A distinguishing feature of Pax’s pinots are (generally) lower alcohol and zippy freshness, with a “cool” feel to them, as opposed to big, sweet, oaky versions. SO ---- if complexity and freshness appeal (as it does for so many!) --- YOU. NEED. THIS.

Rose petals! So much rose petal you might think you were at the Rose Garden up in Portland on a sunny day. Tart cherry extract, sweet herbs, sappy strawberry highlights, all in a lithe and balanced texture that glides over your tongue. Flowers! Roses! Just WONDERFUL. What else can we say? Nothing -- by the time you read this part, it’s probably mostly gone anyway!

93 points at this price!! We won’t see it again!

We continue to add exceptional Sonoma Coast sites to broaden our reach with this extremely popular wine. Almost entirely whole-cluster, occasionally it is necessary to de-stem some small pieces of particular vineyards when the bunches are not appropriate to use in a fermentation. A little more closed than the 2013 was at this same point, this 2014 shows the energy and density of this superior vintage.

About The Producer

Named after the forces of nature that shape the wines, Wind Gap Wines was established in 2006 with a tiny release that included a wild skin-fermented Pinot Gris, a savory Sonoma Coast Syrah and a zesty coastal Chardonnay that drinks beautifully to this day. Seeking out vineyard sites impacted by coastal wind gaps, the focus is to bottle classically styled wines.

Wind gaps are breaks in coastal ridgelines that draw fog and cool ocean air inland. California features six such wind gaps, hosting a variety of coastal vineyard sites. These sites are ideal for producing provocative wines that are focused and fresh, with low alcohol content and high drinkability. We source much of our fruit from the Sonoma Coast and Petaluma Wind Gap, as well as vineyards all along the coast of California.
