Jean-Luc Colombo Cornas Les Terres Brulees 2015 - Last Bottle

Jean-Luc Colombo Cornas Les Terres Brulees 2015

Fun trick: mention Jean-Luc Colombo at a party of wine geeks and watch all the gnarliest wine guys' heads swivel to look at you (praying you have a bottle in your hand!). And you will now! Wow!

“JLC” is a true legend and his Cornas is a masterpiece. He and his wife Anne were both awarded the French Legion of Honor for their contributions to the wines of the Rhone over the many decades. So - it is with some “we’re not worthy!!” type feelings that we humbly and VERY VERY proudly offer this absolutely mind-rocking Syrah from the tiny but esteemed appellation of Cornas (the smallest in the Rhone at a wee 325 acres) at a once-in-a-lifetime price --- just ASTONISHING. 94 POINTS Wine Spectator!!

NOT for the shy. It is elegant and polished, but this is not for the “light and fruity” crowd, oh no. DARK, intense, and straight up COMMANDING. Concentrated but regal black fruits, smoke, marinated meat, olives and baking spices, deep and intense and IMMENSELY complex. A wine for big food, and a wine to age -- this will last for decades. The PRICE is just outrageous -- every serious Syrah drinker needs to have this. Wow! That’s all we’ll say - not a lot to go around -- just landed in the warehouse! Man, what a week!!

A deep ruby-black color with purple hints. On the nose, blackcurrant,
dark cherries, and blackberries, with spices, licorice, and cocoa. A very
rich mouthfeel with flavors of black fruit, jam, vanilla, spice and mineral
notes.
