Tick, tick…BOOM! Edict’s BACK – with a new, utterly compelling ‘21 red blend that just landed at Last Bottle HQ and…MAN! Like ‘em unabashedly lavish and seductive? Oh, YEAH. (Did you just read that in Barry White’s deep and silky cadence? If not, read it again, ok?) Anywho...EDICT, good people! Napa Valley hillside CABERNET SAUVIGNON, with bits and bobs of equally excellent cab franc, malbec, and petit verdot…coaxed, charmed, and lovingly guided into a ludicrously over-delivering red blend from the magic hands of a veritable DREAM TEAM led by Julien Fayard! This guy's CV reads like a 3 Michelin-star wine list! Lafite Rothschild, Gemstone, Covert, Smith Haut Lafitte, Somnium, Beau Vigne, and his own Purlieu among many others.

We’ve done a few of their pinots over the years, even a zinfandel, and a sprinkle of cabernet – but we’re picky as heck, as you know, and this one definitely made the cut and then some! We pulled the trigger on as much as we could get (SPOILER: it is not enough).

The wine is INKY, my friends… jam-packed with blackberries, and boysenberries, with black cherries too, and this soul-warming core of baked plum tarts. It’s big, supple, and oh-so luscious, but with this percolating freshness, and an overall incredible balance of lively acidity and hedonistic weight. There’s this green tobacco, wild herb, and cigar box thing too…you’re gonna LOVE it. 2021 seems intent on being known as one of the most stylish Napa vintages in recent memory – and this is highly polished, deeply layered, and pristinely textured juice! Given the masters behind the curtain – it’s really no surprise – but at a brain-melting 70% OFF?! This is some 93 POINT Bordeaux blend miracle work to be certain! While it lasts!!!

** Just flew over the Atlantic ocean in an 8-person propeller plane, sitting shotgun shoulder to shoulder with the pilot (with my own steering wheel and dash that I was firmly instructed to avoid touching – as though I would!). Also, my luggage and my person were weighed prior to boarding, with seats assigned accordingly. Just a quick flight, but man, I sure needed a tipple upon landing! **

“A floral, rose-petal aroma leads to hearty dark plum and dark cherry flavors in this deep and layered wine. A full body matches moderate tannins while the texture stays sleek and polished. Best from 2026‚Äì2033.”
