Chateau Mayne-Vieil Fronsac Bordeaux 2018

DO WHATEVER YOU CAN…fo’ real…not much!

Did you know? Europe’s longest shopping street is in Bordeaux (yes, we’ve stumbled our way down it after a tasting of 68 wines in the late afternoon, grabbing crepes and coffees along the way…). Well, so we read, anyway, so WHY are we telling you this..? Because it’s a quiet Saturday and we have a sensational, uber-dope Bordeaux red buy for you but…not really enough to go around at the head-spinning TWELVE DOLLAR (not Euro) price.  So, if that’s your bag, MAN, this is a good one!!

We taste giga-zillions of Bordeaux wines each year, and end up with what? 15-20 for the year? Chateau Mayne-Vieil Fronsac is a no-brainer, everyone. 35 year-old vines, a property dating back to 1500 or so, one of the finest from the Fronsac appellation we tasted last year…finally…HERE!! Big, generous, upfront and rolling deep with juicy, almost jammy blackberry fruit, fig, Kinder Schokolade (YEAH! German milk chocolate! So good…many happy memories…thx Mom!), and a cool, yummy smoky coffee bean thing going on, ripe and mouthfilling. Did we mention $12?! Crazy. How do we do it?

Extra hella-bonus fun fact: one of the world’s largest lasers is in Bordeaux. Who knew? We love the Cuban bar on Rue Piliers de Tutelle, called Calle Ocho. Check it out and have a rum for us.
