Champagne Paul Dethune Brut Grand Cru NV - Last Bottle

Champagne Paul Dethune Brut Grand Cru NV

“Alexa, buy me a 6-pack of Grand Cru Champagne at the best price on Earth.

Ha! We’re not there yet, but we’re making it as easy as possible in the meantime...We find a lot of fine grower bubbly here at Last Bottle, but THIS...this fantastic Paul Déthune is our standard-bearer, our all-time fave --- just outrageously good “grower” Champagne (GRAND CRU!!) at a price that puts PLENTY of big names in the $100 category to shame. SHAME we say!! Your humble scribe is getting his case, oh yeah!

Get ready to be seriously impressed. Whether you like your bubbly on the lean/mean side or the richer/toastier side, we have never met anyone who didn’t simply LOVE this wine. A true “grower” Champagne, Déthune owns a small portion of the Grand Cru vineyard in Ambonnay, where they have made wine since the 17th century (such a mind-blow, right??).

This no-brainer-at-this-price Brut walks the fine line between styles with laser-like precision. Beautiful mineral and crisp white fruit, warm, toasty croissants baking in your oven, fine bubbles (or “mousse” if you will), lemon creme, a touch of ginger spice….GADS we love it!!! You will too, we promise ---- the balance and sense of harmony just rings so true in this Champers!! The family does not a make a lot of this wine --- PLEASE get some --- and get more than you think you will want, because once you drink it…..

Champagne Paul Déthune’s winery and vineyard are located in the village of Ambonnay in Champagne. This terroir bears the appellation of Grand Cru excellence and its reputation is based on a unique expression of Pinot Noir, pleasantly combined with Chardonnay.

About The Producer

Pierre Déthune learned to walk in the vineyards alongside his father, Paul, who came from a long line of vintners that goes back to 1610. Like his great-grandfather Léon, his grandfather Henri, and his father Paul, Pierre is tracing his own path in the heart of the grassy wine country of Ambonnay.
Today, Pierre Déthune and his wife, Sophie, continue to honor their land and cultural heritage. All wines are farmed according to biodynamic principles. Pierre is committed to respecting the environment by using sustainable viticulture methods to work the vines. The estate has put many practices in place that have led to it being granted the highest level of HEV certification (High Environmental Value).
