Hey! Your taste buds called --- they miss Napa Chardonnay. They miss it badly.  So how about a blockbuster from the legendary Mark Herold (he started Merus in his Napa garage) at WELL OVER 50% OFF??! Yeah! Guys, we LOVE you --- and you gotta have a case of kickass Chardonnay around at ALL times, are we right? NO ONE will know you didn’t pay $45!! Mark has made too-many-to-count 95-100 point wines in his career (Google him!)…this Chardonnay is nothing short of exhilarating! Amazing we even have it! Woo hoo!

BONUS DOUBLE SUPER-SECRET PROBATION INFO: The grapes for this come from the (also legendary) Hudson Vineyard in Carneros, a super-coveted source for top Napa producers. You’ll taste it. We promise.

White flowers! Gingersnaps! Honeysuckle! Zingy, zippy, Freshmaker citrus! There’s fresh apple, too, and a nice toasty nut oak component going here along with the creamy, long finish. UTTERLY PERFECT right now, and a ridiculous price for Napa Chardonnay at this level. In fact, what are we doing? Ah, whatever, it’s Sunday. Party on! FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED…!

The 2015 Napa Chardonnay is a testament to the cooler climate of the Carneros region and the superb quality of the Hudson Vineyard these grapes come from. Sophisticated aromas of strawberry blossom, pears, citrus blossom and papaya dominate. Subtle notes of crisp fresh apple, gingersnaps and roasted hazelnuts wind through a core of minerality; giving this wine even greater depth and complexity. The flavors are everything you want out of top-quality Chardonnay - rich, creamy, focused and elegant.

About The Producer

Mark Herold found his curiosity for wine through his love for food and cooking during his teenage years. Initially planning to study culinary arts in Paris, Mark eventually decided on a domestic education. Having many interests and many declared majors, it took him eight years to complete his under-graduate studies- yet collecting wine all along. Deciding to advance his education, he completed his academic career at the University of Davis with a Ph.D. in Ecology emphasizing nutritional bio-chemistry.

While at UC Davis, his curiosity for wine was nurtured by a fellow wine enthusiast, who happened to be his bio-chemistry professor and owned his own winery in the Sierra Foothills. It took one volunteer harvest for Mark to become completely enthralled with the process.  Mark’s ever-present thirst fr knowledge led him down a career path as a winemaker; combining both his love of science and art.

Mark’s enthusiasm for making wine took on a life of its own leading to the creation of Merus in 1998; his personal Cabernet label. Being made in his home garage in downtown Napa, this project was a labor of love.  After selling Merus, Mark continues his quest for making delicious, balanced, age-worthy wines at MHW.
