Bodega Norton Privada Family Blend 2015
Well, we could not be more gobsmacked at this moment if Eddie Vedder walked into the Napa warehouse, climbed up on a forklift and did an acapella version of “Better Man”. Really. 95 POINTS! $20!! Massive, inky Argentinian Malbec/Cabernet/Merlot! Not for the shy!! We bought every bottle the winery could scrape up, but we will still sell out in record time.
Did we mention 95 points? We did? OK. This is described as the Norton family’s “special occasion” wine and if that is true, they must save the BIGGEST, baddest blends for it because it is a rollercoaster-ride of dark berry fruit, lavish sweet oak, more spices than a Moroccan bazaar, incense, masculine structure and a finish that goes on until you are ready to go to bed tonight. DANG! Mocha and even a creamy latte-like feel in your mouth. Fantastic. Seriously crazy, rich, spicy stuff for a brain-rattling price and this score!
You may be familiar with Norton, they were founded in 1895 and are one of the most respected and renowned producers in the country. The AVERAGE age of their vineyards are between 30-80 years old! It is some kind of miracle to snag a decent parcel of this 95-pointer, but as we noted...please act SUPER QUICK!! We got ours! Woo hoo!
