Avennia Gravura Red Columbia Valley 2015 - Last Bottle

Avennia Gravura Red Columbia Valley 2015

Just read THIS! “93 POINTS: This is a sophisticated, well-balanced and keenly priced Bordeaux blend that definitely impressed me.” -- The Wine Advocate

Uncanny, isn’t it? Because that is EXACTLY what we felt...except...the Wine Advocate is talking about a $45 price! Nope! Not today! Washington continues its wild hot streak, and this big, finesse-filled Bordeaux blend had us on the first sip. A colossally-overdelivering powerhouse! The price! 93 points! We didn’t get much, though!

Deep, rich, polished, lush and concentrated, this could be mistaken for many an $80+ Bordeaux, we think, in a blind tasting. Wonderfully long and complex, this is just a ridiculous knockout at our price --- get a few to share, but get MORE to save for yourself. We’ve been working on this deal for months -- and there is not a lot! While it lasts…!

"The 2015 Gravura is the most hedonistic yet, with aromas of black cherry coulis, red currants, chocolate truffle, violets, and a hint of leather. Rich and palate-coating mouthfeel with dark red and black berries, mocha, and toasted hazelnuts. There is a nice streak of acidity on palate to lift the large-scaled fruit and structure. This wine is tasting great already, but will age 5-8 years at least." - Chris Peterson, Winemaker

About The Producer

Avennia was founded on the passion to showcase Washington as a unique and compelling place for great wines. Our priority is to acquire fruit from some of the finest vineyards in Washington, and allow them to express themselves. We chose to focus on the grape varieties used in Bordeaux and the Rhone, as their similar latitude to Washington makes them a natural fit to excel here.

Inspired by the naturalist vigneron methods in the Old World, our winemaking is based on doing less in order to let the fruit speak for itself. With this approach, sourcing the finest fruit possible is paramount. We use native yeast to ferment the wines, and bottle them unfined to preserve the most complexity and expression. Blending trials are used extensively to achieve the finest texture and balance possible.
