Wilhelm Bergmann Piesporter Goldtropfchen Kabinett Riesling Mosel Valley 2017
Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here

This tongue-tickling, delightfully fresh, sunny and salivary gland-rocking Piesporter (named for the town on the Mosel river, where wine has been produced since Roman times) just seemed to bring a beam of peace and lightness when we tasted it --- crazy delicious, barely sweet, so racy and zesty.
“Goldtropfchen” denotes coming from the Goldtropfchen vineyard (whose name means 'Droplets of Gold'). Piesporter Goldtropfchen Rieslings are some of the very finest in all of the Mosel, and hold long standing international prestige. So imagine our joy at snagging some cases at this price! Fresh as the day is long!
But on to the sunshine: we’re putting our orders in to Thai Kitchen (via DoorDash) because this lightly sweet, seriously lip-smacking Riesling is begging for good spicy food (and don’t EVEN get us started about fried chicken!). The nose and mouth are all light citrus, titillatingly tropical, mineral and flowers, peach...then it hits your mouth with that gorgeous acidity that harmonizes it so well. MMMM! Great long, lively, perky, stony finish. Crazy at the price! Low alcohol on this wine as well (8.5%), so you can drink glass after glass (what? no judging here...) and never harsh your mellow.
Not too much of this to go around! Party on while it lasts..!
Piesporter Goldtropfchen Rieslings are some of the very finest in all of the Mosel region. This single-vineyard site is located on the steep slopes high above the village of Piesport. The southern exposure along with the mix of soils that includes iron-rich clays, quartz, and the Mosel’s signature “Devonian” slate, allow the grapes to fully develop their complex flavors. Kabinett is the lightest style of Riesling and is made from fully ripened grapes of the main harvest.
