BOOM! Friday! Drink Bordeaux! And drink it with 12 years of age (perfect), direct from the Chateau, with a Wine Advocate 91 POINTS, at a brain-melting nearly 60% OFF!! Madness!

THIS is why we got to Bordeaux at least once or twice a year. We DIG UP stellar, amazing parcels like this at wicked pricing. God we love this job!! Wow! OK -- so, what were you doing in the 15th century?? Nothing? Well, Chateau Haut Bergey was making wine in the world-class Pessac-Leognan appellation of Bordeaux, so they’ve got a bit of experience. Fast-forward to 2006, a fine, long-lived vintage that is juuuuust coming around to drinking perfection. Fast-forward again to Jan. 3rd, 2019 when a bigazz truck dropped off a few pallets of it in our warehouse, that sent us into a tizzy, practically drooling to offer it to you TODAY! Yes! You saw that price, right???

Consistently one of the top, under-the-radar wines of Pessac-Leognan... impressive purity, and an alluring texture...Supple and sweet, offering pure, nicely delineated red fruit flavors…

Just a few of the nice things being said about this wine. At this age, it has all come together in a harmonious, complex and layered Cabernet-based beauty, with masculine structure that unfolds in your glass, opening up more layers --- starts out with plummy, dried cherry, then hits you with some smoky coffee beans, cocoa, and woodsmoke, with good freshness and length.

Again -- we gotta say --- a Pessac wine, with this age, track record, pedigree and perfect storage condition (at the winery), priced like we have it, is a RARE, rare beast indeed. Move as quickly as your hot little fingers will move...not a lot! Happy Friday!

From a prime terroir in Pessac (next to Domaine de Chevalier) this wine offers incredible quality for the $!

About The Producer

With a rich history dating back to the 1400s, Haut Bergey began under the guise of La Maison Noble de Pontey. It wasn't until 1850 when the Chateau was erected and the vineyards brought back to their former glory after a period of neglect. In 1991 Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard (her brother owns Smith Haut Lafitte) purchased the winery and began renovating and modernizing everything. Today, the estate is run by Sylviane's brother and the wines are better than ever. The wines are not sold as futures and instead are aged at the winery and only released when the wines are ready.
