Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Art Series Margaret River Australia 2014 - Last Bottle

Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Art Series Margaret River Australia 2014

Gads, what a week for serious, world-class-level wine lovers at Last Bottle!! Not sure if it’s our rugged good looks, pure hearts or savvy negotiating skills, but…WOW! We did it!! LEEUWIN! 96/95/94 POINTS from all the big gun critics, best price on Earth, and truly one of the great chardonnays of this little blue space ball!

HOLD. ON. When you get this masterpiece in your mouth, well...it’s ON. Robert Mondavi was the one to help Leeuwin get established back in the 70s in the cool Margaret River region, perfect for chardonnay and riesling (which, if you ever see, you should grab, it’s also thrilling stuff).

SEAMLESS. THRILLING. Masterful -- those are the words that come roaring into your brain as this hits your tastebuds. And don't just listen to us...look at the oodles of huge scores, year after year! We can only use words like "laser-focused", and "pure" and “top-notch White Burgundy-ish”  to describe the beauty of what this wine is...truly one of the most fantastic, mouth-watering examples of the varietal anywhere. Peach pit, lemon zest, bitter almond, grapefruits...the array of fruit is just amazing, not to mention the overall sense of perfect balance and structure. OH MAN, pour me another…!

Just SENSATIONAL wine, any way you slice it....and at a price that is unheard-of!! While it lasts...

A pristine and lifted nose highlighted by Nashi pears, limes, white peach and fig. The primary fruits are complimented by nutmeg, cinnamon, almonds and sesame that creates subtle complexity. The palate has concentration with clarity and purity. An introduction of grapefruit and pear lead to a delicately textured, layered and woven palate with nougat, anise and cashews present. There is immense length that finishes with a fine acid line and mineral finish.

About The Producer

Family owned, Leeuwin Estate, one of the five founding wineries of the now famous Margaret River district of Western Australia, is under the direction of two generations who work with a team of highly skilled winemakers to consistently produce wines ranking alongside the world's finest. In 1972, legendary Napa Valley winemaker, Robert Mondavi, identified the future site of the Leeuwin vineyard as being ideal for the production of premium wine and provided early mentorship to Denis and Tricia Horgan in the transformation of their cattle farm into Leeuwin Estate. Enjoying its first commercial vintage in 1979, Leeuwin was thrust into the international spotlight when Decanter Magazine gave its highest recommendation to the 1981 "Art Series" Chardonnay. The international accolades have continued and Leeuwin now exports to 30 markets. Celebrating the combination of fine wine, food, art and music, Leeuwin features an award winning restaurant, cellardoor and art gallery. The Estate is renowned for staging spectacular events and welcoming visitors from around the world.
