Maxville Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2016
(shakes head in bewilderment)
As your humble scribe, you’d think I’d be immune to the ferocious pace of brain-melting deals that cross my desk every day. I’m not. Seriously? $60 Napa Cabernet at $26? From the maybe-best-ever 2016 vintage?
All I can say is: DROP what you’re doing and lock it UP. I clearly remember the email from David T. of CA who bought a case of the 2015 last year and spent a week BEGGING us for more (alas, it was long gone). David, go big on this one.
As we’ve alluded to, this is an absolutely SCREAMING DEAL for 2016 vintage Napa Cabernet. DON’T wait another moment here...will sell out in a flash...we always do when it comes to Napa Cab! Over 50% OFF, lush, concentrated, serious juice from a micro-producer in Chiles Valley. Winemaker George Bursick was at Ferrari-Carano for over 20 years, then at Jordan, and made such a rich, polished, satisfying 2016 Cab that doesn’t seem possible at $26.
Pure, fresh, balanced blue and purple fruit, cedar, pencil lead, dried flowers, violets, lavender...all that carries onto the mouth, with good freshness and energy and a toasty finish. Anyway, PLEASE please do what you can, take 30 seconds and grab a few while we got ‘em!!
Our estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon is our flagship red wine. The 2016 vintage truly reflects the diversity and signature character of our estate vineyard, with small amounts of Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec complementing the core Cabernet Sauvignon in the final blend. 30 months aging in 100% French oak also define the quality and style of the wine.
Deep opaque garnet in color. Vibrant aromas of black cherry, plum, cedar, sage and sandalwood spice. Full-bodied and complex flavors of licorice, leather, cocoa, vanilla and toasty caramel with berry and black fruit at the core. The finish is long with resolved, refined tannins.

About The Producer
The first planting occurred in 1974, when Edward Keith decided to start his own wine business. At the time, he planted some acres of Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, which are now almost 50 years old. These old vines are low yield, which produce very concentrated and intense fruit.
After purchase of the property in 2013, the Maxville team began an
extensive redevelopment and restoration of both the vineyards and the
riparian corridors. Presently over 100 acres of vineyards are planted,
primarily to Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and
Petite Syrah.
The terroir of Chiles Valley is unique within the various sub AVA’s of Napa Valley that excel at producing world class Cabernet Sauvignon. Our Chiles Valley estate vineyard is located east of the valley floor, nestled in the Vaca Mountains at an elevation of 900 to 1,200 feet. Due to this higher elevation, daytime and nighttime temperatures are cooler, producing Cabernet Sauvignon that reveals a lush yet firm texture with good acidity, integrated tannins and distinctive cherry-blackberry flavors.
As vineyard owners, we are passionate about growing the highest
quality grapes for our Maxville Estate Wines, and care deeply about
preserving our land and soil for future generations.
Pairing Suggestions
Pairs exceptionally well with richly flavored meats, such as ribeye steak, prime-rib and lamb.
