Domaine Bosquet Des Papes Chateauneuf-du-Pape A la Gloire de Mon Grand-Pere 2017
You know what? We’re going to skip the hyperbole today (OK, not COM-pletely…) and let’s talk directly to the wondrous component of Chateauneuf-du-Pape called “garrigue”.
Ah...but first...OVER 50% OFF! 95 POINTS! Madness! One of the great producers of CdP and the top wine they make, an homage to the family’s grandfather! A gargantuan no-brainer!
That’s all true. But. OK. Garrigue. It’s what you love about old-vine Chateauneuf-du-Pape that you may not be aware of. Technically, it’s defined as such: “open shrubby vegetation of dry Mediterranean regions, consisting of spiny or aromatic dwarf shrubs interspersed with colourful ephemeral species”. When you visit the region, as we generally do every year, there’s often a strong breeze and with that breeze brings this heady aroma of wild herbs, flowers and such, and it WARMS YOUR SOUL. Typically there’s lots of wild lavender, juniper, thyme, rosemary and sage all over the landscape.
THIS is the magic of the Grenache grape in this special part of this planet. And it’s in this wine in spades. GOD, we love it! Pair this up with the sweet kirsch-y Grenache fruit, the flowing ripe fruit texture...man!! AT THIS PRICE? Jeb Dunnuck sums it up well…”rocking...sexy...seamless!” All true. We WILL sell out -- anyone who knows great CdP will be way ahead of you if you read this far!!

About The Producer
Our family, the BOIRONs, has been a winegrower family for five generations. It all started in 1860, with the first investments in the local vineyard of our quinquisaieul, Emmanuel Boiron. His son, Joseph-Victor, then his grandson Joseph will follow in his footsteps and create the entity “Clos Chantemerle” in 1936; generations follow one another, each, in turn, expanding the estate and always keeping in mind the concern for respect for the terroir and the maintenance of quality. Maurice, son of Joseph, will not be outdone and will give real scope to the property by buying more than ten hectares and then renaming, in 1966, the estate: “BOSQUET DES PAPES”. The family heritage then counted 27 hectares of Châteauneuf du Pape.
