Smith and Sheth Sauvignon Blanc Cru Wairau Valley 2019 - Last Bottle

Smith and Sheth Sauvignon Blanc Cru Wairau Valley 2019

Sure, sure, the headline is the wicked-dope price for a DOUBLE 94-point Sauvignon Blanc, but we gotta just say….this might be the BEST Sauvignon Blanc you have ever had. This was definitely one of those “holy smokes… wow...dang, that is KICKIN’....hella-LIT” sort of reactions from us upon tasting --- and when we worked out a price...BOOM! It’s on! I got my case!!

Can you say TANGY? FINESSE? Complexity? It’s all here -- funny to read all the critics descriptions -- is it nectarine? Mango? Passionfruit? Key lime? Violets? Sea mist? Crushed oyster shells? We are here to tell you -- who cares?? It’s straight up ROCKING delicious -- figure out your own fruit combos, but mostly just LOVE it!! What a price!

The wonderful thing here is the play between zesty acidity and rich texture, citrus vs. tropical -- it all just WORKS. SO good. You’ll know what we mean when you get the box, rip it open, pour a glass and think: “I shoulda got more…” Truly summer drinking at its finest, and a fantastic deal. We can’t say enough about this New Zealand up-and-comer that we will cross our fingers to get a LOT more of. If only we had more...while it lasts!

** This new winery is a collaboration between a legendary Master of Wine (Smith) and Brian Sheth -- read about it in detail HERE, if you like! **

Wonderful aromatics of yellow flowers, lime, and a warm summer meadow. Lovely delicious palate brimming with nectarine, fresh lime, and hints of ripe nectarine and gooseberry finishing with a lovely long feel of the stony soils and refreshing acidity.

Sourced from low yielding old vines averaging 25 years in age from the rocky, bony soils around the Renwick township in Marlborough blended with biodynamically grown hillside fruit from the Sam and Mandy Weavers Churton Vineyard.

About The Producer

Steve Smith MW and Brian Sheth share a love for the same things: fine wine, Aotearoa New Zealand and enjoying life’s pleasures. They met in Hawke’s Bay over a glass of Chardonnay and in 2014 realised their vision of founding a wine dream together. That dream was to craft impeccable wines from vineyards of exceptional quality and to create experiences where they could share these wines with like-minded people.

Steve Smith MW has a formidable reputation in the wine industry: renowned for establishing Craggy Range in Hawke’s Bay and Martinborough, he is also one of few qualified Master of Wines to be based in New Zealand. Brian Sheth, from Austin Texas, is an investor and wildlife conservationist, with a strong affiliation and love for New Zealand.
