Buena Vista Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Chateau Buena Vista Napa Valley 2017 - Last Bottle

Buena Vista Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Chateau Buena Vista Napa Valley 2017

NAPA CAB PEOPLE, this is IT! Wine Spectator 92 POINTS! A total score at this price, from a legendary producer, is absolutely packed with history (California wine would arguably not be what it is without Buena Vista). And even though we’re sitting here – soaked from the rain in this icy cool warehouse, we are beyond PUMPED!

** Heads up, yo. We got some...but not, like, a LOT, so, ya know... **

COUNT AGOSTON HARASZTHY. Sounds grand, and the man WAS. He brought over 350 grape varieties to California in the 1860s, started Buena Vista – the FIRST premium winery in our awesome state, developed it to over 5,000 acres of vineyards, hired a young Charles Krug to be his winemaker – the dude was the KING! The shizzle-my-dizzle! Today, the winery is owned by the intrepid Jean-Charles Boisset (yes, THAT Boisset, of Burgundy, Raymond, JCB, Oakville Grocery and SO much more), and we thought this cab was ALL THAT. Napa cabernet sauvignon almost never exists under $30...certainly not with this pedigree. 92 points!

Boisset has been pumping tons of resources into upgrading Buena Vista big time in the last decade (it shows, you should go check it out if you ever get out this way), and you’ll know when the delectable Mom’s-blackberry-pie lushness hits your mouth and rapid fires all pleasure-delivering neurons to your brain stem. Tons of cool blue fruits going on here, with a hella-lip-smacking lick of root beer, toasted spices, sandalwood, sweet herbs (pineapple sage, mint, lemon thyme), and finishing with some roast coffee notes, and silky smooth dark chocolate. Just extremely well put together. 86% cabernet sauvignon, 8% cabernet franc, 5% petit verdot, and 1% mission (as a nod to old-school Cali-wine) for a solid 28 months in just under 40% new French oak. I mean, C’MON...at this price!! Flying outta here as you read this...

Buena Vista. Our future is our past… our vivacious, colorful, and pioneering past!

About The Producer

Before there were vineyards in every valley north of San Francisco, before Napa and Sonoma were household names before there was a California wine world at all, there was Buena Vista.  Founded in 1857, Buena Vista is California’s first premium winery, and its history is as colorful as it is proud. Today, the legend is being re-born under the vision of Jean-Charles Boisset. Just outside the town of Sonoma, the original winery is now a California Historic Landmark, and home to our Winery, Tasting Room, and Visitor’s Center.
