Chateau Lascombes Margaux Grand Cru 2020 - Last Bottle

Chateau Lascombes Margaux Grand Cru 2020

We never get enough Margaux! If you missed the first, we have you covered with an absolute rockstar of a wine, the 2020 Lascombes. It's Margaux embodied in a single bottle of pure delight – ambrosial wonderment and never-ending class that is CHATEAU LASCOMBES! James Suckling – 95. Wine Enthusiast – 95. Jeb Dunnuck – 95. Lisa Perrotti-Brown – 95.

I’m sensing a theme here. The newest jewel in the crown of Gaylon Lawrence and Carlton McCoy (who purchased Heitz Cellars and Burgess several years back), this 2nd Growth Margaux estate has been crafting powerful wines since the 17th century! A QUAD 95-POINT beast that is sumptuously rich and beautifully layered – lovers of luxurious Napa cabs...TAKE NOTE!

Seriously, this could be Howell Mountain – with the perfumed violet aromas, the crushed rock minerality, tingly black pepper, and the brooding structure. Other aspects are signature eastern Oakville – perfectly ripe blackberries, creme de cassis, that classic, sweet earthy, and chocolatey roundness. WOW! No surprise that THE Michel Rolland is at the helm here (alongside longtime boots-on-the-ground oenologist, Delphine Barboux)! However, your brain associates it – just know that synapses will be a-firing! Straight to the center of your limbic system, delighting your hypothalamus and amygdala with each brain-nourishing sip! 55% cabernet sauvignon, 40% merlot, and 5% petit verdot is the cast – from the remarkable 2020 vintage in Bordeaux, all freshly arrived at our icy, cool, and always welcoming warehouse! Man, I’m doing cartwheels right now (though collapsing ancient windmills are likely a more apt description) – anyway, just GIDDY with bubbly, Bordeaux-y smiles and rainbows this morning! But...BUT! We had to beg, truly beg, to get enough to send out an offer of this...it won’t last long!! Top Growth Bordeaux like this is almost never discounted, and you won’t find it anywhere in the USA for less! Savvy Last Bottlers will grab six – drink two, cellar two, and sell two in another 10 years when the price doubles!

Bordeaux Margaux wines tend to be deep ruby in color, perfumed and floral, particularly with notes of violets and lilacs, and soft, silky tannins. Less masculine and powerful than wines from other regions of Bordeaux, Margaux wines are typically more refined and elegant. Margaux is the furthest south appellation in the Médoc in Bordeaux's Left Bank and boasts many soil types, including limestone, chalk, clay, sand and gravel, meaning style and quality of Margaux can vary dramatically.
