Le Clos du Beau-Pere Pomerol 2018

Just typing it, whispering it silently, brings such peace and happiness, the very thought of drinking it brings tears of joy, truly, to our eyes. Not many wines can make Jeb curse (even by PG-13 standards), so you just KNOW it's good!

A newbie by Pomerol standards – this estate came roaring to life in 2006. The newest passion project of the legendary Jean-Luc Thunevin – a Bordeaux négociant, turned Saint-Emilion “Bad Boy” garagiste wine phenom – whose Château Valandraud label helped to kick start the entire “Garage Wine” movement in Bordeaux...YES!!! Oh man, you’re gonna LOVE this! Bordeaux lovers, Napa cultists, lovers of all things rich, hedonistic, and layered...your time is HERE! 

Deep, dark, and mysterious – simply oozing with entrancing notes of baked plums, mom’s blackberry pie, graphite, charred rosemary, butter cookies...YOWZA! It just keeps on truckin’ with layers of crème de cassis, green cardamom, gravelly river rocks, and supremely luscious mocha notes on the incredibly long finish! This is a silky, powerful, simply STUNNING beast. Damn! 95-POINT POMEROL! Get some! A lot, preferably, and you can thank me later! (P.S. – I LOVE chocolate chip cookies!) 

Just saying…gratitude. Anywho, Jean-Luc chose the name in homage to his father-in-law and his particular affinity for the wines of Pomerol. The micro-production 4-hectare vineyard of Le Clos du Beau-Pere is planted to 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc, but the wine’s blend changes a bit from year to year. At the full MSRP, this is a steal...but our 53% less tag? Take this for a test drive, take this home today, live, love, and drink Pomerol, baby! While it lasts!
