Koehler Proprietary Red Magia Nera Santa Ynez Valley 2019
Aaaaand...SCORE! Wow! We've been trying to get this one hooked up for months, from the moment we tasted it – gorgeous, silky, classy stuff! Chianti lovers, Brunello aficionados, and especially Super-Tuscan cognoscenti...you will want this bottle...read on for the story, but there is not a lot and it is well over 55% OFF. UNDER $20!
This MONSTROUSLY OVER-DELIVERING red blend is the winery’s most popular bottle in their Santa Barbara tasting room, year after year. WE FLIPPED for this – so pure, so balanced, just clean and spicy and lip-smackingly awesome! 60% sangiovese, 20% cabernet sauvignon, 20% syrah – I DARE you to throw this into a blind tasting with proper Super-Tuscans – you know, the ones that regularly go for 60, 90, 100+ DOLLARS! Now, this might not win outright (though certainly stranger things have happened), but I can assure you it won’t come in last place either!
Situated on the celebrated Foxen Canyon Wine Trail in Santa Barbara’s Santa Ynez Valley, Koehler Winery is just a knockout of a new find for us. Some of the oldest vines in the region, located on some of the most diverse and pristine 40 acres of vineyards you’ll find anywhere! The Koehler family has been on quite the run… cracking Wine Enthusiast’s prestigious TOP 100 list TWICE in the past few years. Not bad for a relatively unknown producer well primed to hit the big time!
Hailing from Santa Ynez (where some of the finest sangiovese in the state grows), this beauty pours out a delicate, clear, and brilliant ruby – with a cascade of so much cherry, raspberry, and strawberry fruits you’ll feel like you woke up at a farmer’s market in the early summer. Syrah adds a savory grilled herbs edge of rosemary, lavender, and thyme, with a smidgeon of new French oak giving you a touch of pie crust, a dash of black pepper, and a spicy cinnamon red hot note on the finish – THIS IS ROCKING GOOD! So pristinely balanced! Absolutely crushable, too, with a nicely structured cabernet backbone, and a cool, elegant, burst of ocean-driven acidity… WOW! Barely enough to go round...all at nearly 60% OFF! Gonna go fast...!

About The Producer
Our nearly 50-year-old estate vines have been painstakingly nurtured by our skilled and knowledgeable vineyard team, many of whom have been working with us for decades. The enduring relationships we have developed over the years help to cultivate the family atmosphere on the property and among the team. Dan Zurliene, our immensely popular Tasting Room and Wine Club manager, recently celebrated his 20th anniversary with Koehler Winery. Over one-hundred Koehler Wine Club members joined us on a beautiful Sunday afternoon to celebrate Dan, a local favorite beloved as one of the friendliest and funniest stewards in the Santa Ynez Valley. Winemaker Trace Brueske often passes by the tasting bar on his way to the cellar or vineyard, stopping to say hello to guests and sharing his wisdom on our extensive assortment of wines. Our eldest son recently took a more prominent role in the operations of the family winery. Having literally grown up on the family estate, Derek is intent on learning best practices in farming and winemaking.
