what yer doing, PLEASE! 2016 ROMITORIO?? This wine has...um...**adding**...a collective 378 POINTS from ALL the critics, (two 95s, two 94s) and besides that, I mean, Romitorio??!?! On Last Bottle? Surely I have crossed the thin line between fantasy and perceived reality…?

Ancient vineyard land just outside Montalcino in an ancient fortress with a view of Siena? CHECK. Bought by a renowned Italian artist (Sandro Chia) and revitalized (with cool label from said artist)? CHECK. Overnight sensation? CHECK. Expensive, highly rated and hard to find? CHECK.

Rock your world (just like ours is currently) with some of this highly polished, distinctive GEM. Jaw-dropping, spine-shaking price, just...WOW. OK, so, yes, uh huh, ok, it is melon-twistingly complex and layered, first of all, and will last a decade with ease in a good cellar. VELVETY though, oh yes, and just percolating with flavors that just bounce around your brain like a dang racquetball game!! Black cherry, red cherry, dried cherry, cherry pie and maraschino cherry...kidding a bit, but not really?? Sweet herbs, rich earth, spices, boysenberry, fresh and bright, yet deep and fascinating. This is PURE, unbridled Sangiovese, not bogged down by tons of flourishes. PURITY, baby!! WHAT ELSE is there, really, to want?? My goodness --- please just get some and think of us when you drink it, something like “dang, I think I am falling in love with those guys…” WHILE. IT. LASTS!

A lifted nose of oak and fruit with notions of Marasca cherry, violet and pomegranate. Earthy hints appear, too, as do nuances of sage and soy with increasing age. The body has densely woven, firm but fine tannins, according the wine a great structure; a skeleton upon which fruit, oak and aroma can express themselves fully

About The Producer

Since 1984, the Castello Romitorio winery has been committed to the study, exploration and promotion of Brunello di Montalcino wine. This has been possible thanks to the work of Italian artist Sandro Chia, and his bond with Franco Martini, a Brunello di Montalcino expert and the cellar master of Castello Romitorio. This bond now continues between Sandro’s son Filippo and Franco’s son Stefano, the next generation.
