Ok, deep breath. Quick breakdown time:
Tenuta Buon Tempo: A long-time super-fave, a blast of sunshine that fills the room. 100% sangiovese, made by the impeccable Alberto Machetti at their postcard-amazing winery/villa on the warm southern side of Montalcino. SINGING with pure, laser-bright sangiovese fruit: tart cherry, sweet black cherry, dried cherries, violets, woodsy notes, a lush touch of spiciness...classic, delicious, and completely begging for some craveable Tuscan food "pici" pasta.
Terre Nere: Insanely good, from the high-scoring Vallone family and Brunello producer you know and love, this is the kind of thing we drink almost every night – just percolating with crisp red berries, cherry, pomegranate, and citrusy high notes, uber-clean and bright and lip-smacking. Juicy but never heavy, it dances la la la across the palate.
La Fortuna: A Last Bottle mega-fave for dang near a decade now? A small but extra-fine vintage with depth and balance and age-worthiness, rich, yet fresh-as-the-summer-day-is-long, with showy bright cherry and raspberry liqueur, anise, kirsch, and earth, with zesty acidity and a harmonious, happy-making, outrageously drinkable personality, much like the fine Zannoni family who makes it.
Oh, HAPPY DAY!
