Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes Premier Cru Classe 2014 (Half Bottle 375mL) - Last Bottle

Chateau Suduiraut Sauternes Premier Cru Classe 2014 (Half Bottle 375mL)

“The Château Suduiraut 2014 may well be one of the best Sauternes of the vintage.” – Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate

BEST price in the USA? Oh, yeeeaaah!!! (And yes, as a boy growing up in the 80s, my brain always says that in my best Macho Man Randy Savage voice.) Anywho…glorious. Golden. Sauternes. Damn near PERFECT in my book, and like the folks at Advocate said… one of the best of the entire vintage! Vinous’ Neil Martin focused on the ageability – stating that “There is something “complete” about this Sauternes and I can see this repaying bottle age.” Welp, here we are a full decade in – and this beauty is starting to STRUT!!! 50% OFF and a full $30 below retail?! That’s how we DO!

This is some seriously mind-expanding epic LIQUID GOLD from one of the greatest Sauternes houses in Bordeaux. Seriously...it’s d'Yquem, then Suduiraut, then everyone else...and you're pretty much guaranteed to never see d'Yquem for under $40 (under $400 maybe!). Sauternes is one of those wines we should all be drinking far more often – and every time you crack open a bottle, is there anyone who DOESN’T think…Man, why don’t we drink this every week?!?!

The blend is a classic 95% semillon with 5% sauvignon blanc, loaded with lemon blossom and honeyed notes, with BECKONING flavors of navel oranges, pears, and golden apricot fruits, plus that lovely hint of spice and nuttiness, and lively, zippy minerality. HUZZAH! Where’d my glass go? Seriously this stuff disappears like magic. The bright acidity carries it throughout to keep it all fresh and never cloying, and the finish holds FOREVER and ever like gorilla glue.

Just a perfect nightcap, a sweet, piercingly bright, and spicy ambrosia running through your body like an unchecked electric current, firing synapses and titillating nerve endings from your littlest toe all the way to the very tips of your hair. One sip and you’re GLOWING...lit up like the Griswolds come Christmas time. SQUIRREL!

A half bottle is just the perfect size to enjoy this intoxicating ambrosia – so grab a few while they last! 97-98 points! Only $30!!! What are you waiting for?!?!

** Don’t think Sauternes are just for dessert, good people! A bit of this and some uber-fancy, seared lobe of foie-gras? Life-changing. Or cut the heat on a fiercely spicy Thai Laab Moo dish. A nice bleu cheese is a perfect fit, too…so many options!!! **

About The Producer

The roots of the estate date back to 1580 when it adopted the name Suduiraut upon the marriage of Nicole d'Allard to Leonard de Suduiraut. The original estate was plundered and burned down during the Fronde insurrection, and was painstakingly rebuilt in the 17th century. Later, in the late 18th century, under the ownership of Jean Joseph Duroy, Baron of Noaillan and a nephew of the Suduiraut family, the estate was rebranded as Cru du Roy. This historical juncture saw the introduction of the crest featuring the Suduiraut and Duroy coats of arms, laying the foundation for the distinctive iconography still used by Château Suduiraut today. The culmination of its legacy occurred on April 18, 1855, when the estate earned the esteemed Premier Cru classification during the official wine classification program in the Gironde winegrowing region.
