KRAKEN! Such a great word, and EVERYTHING about today's wine -- massive, imposing, all-encompassing, mysterious, thrill-seeking...we are FIRED UP today, to put it mildly. We only use the “Lucky Break” moniker for wines that are super-limited, impossible-to-get types of things that come along our paths now and then. THIS one is, well, wow -- take everything you know and love about the Caymus "house style" and turn it up 111%!!

What the Wagner Family did was THIS --- they went to Argentina. They found high-end, high-elevation vineyards of the BEST grape there -- Malbec. They brought them back to Caymus Vineyards (cool, right??) and crushed them and made the wine in the much-loved Caymus style. BIG, bold, and sexy. Then they let it chill out for a few years in 100% French oak and rested it at the winery until they felt it was ready. Then WE got to work getting some. The wine, Red Schooner, is the showcase of the Wagner family’s excitement about international wines. Because of wine labeling laws, the bottle cannot bear a vintage or other information we're used to, because the grapes literally came from another country. Those Wagners are adventurers, man!!

This is the LATEST, brand-new release (Voyage 9 -- 2019 Vintage) and it’s astonishingly sumptuous, silky, mouthcoating, unctuous, plummy for days, saturated with smoky plum jam and new leather (just take a minute and imagine new leather. MMMM.) Toasty, exotic French oak spice, just leviathan-sized, plush and hedonistic, as always! They don’t make much, we got a handful...best be quick!
