Chateau Laforge Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2016 - Last Bottle

Chateau Laforge Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2016

Yes. Thank you BFG (Big Friendly Giant) for your wisdom. It’s true that we might not have believed it was possible to go to Bordeaux and find a 94-POINT (and DOUBLE 93 POINT!) St. Emilion powerhouse for anything like this kind of scratch. It defies rational thinking, but hey, we’re FULLY on board now.

Magic, indeed. Man, I wish this happened more often! Well, we bought every bottle the Chateau could scramble up, even bottles out of the tasting room! 2016 is ALL THAT, as you’ve heard us yap on about, but wait until you taste it! You might think you’re drinking a lux-priced Napa wine…

Fun fact: “Laforge” was previously owned by a local blacksmith (forge, get it?) and the vineyards were acquired piecemeal-like over the years from people in the region who could not pay the blacksmithing bill, so he took vineyard in trade. Drop THAT little doozy at your next dinner party! Anyway, the intrepid Jonathan Maltus (him again!!) bought it in 1998 and turned it into the FORCE of lush, gustatory pleasure that it is today! Check out all the scores below...

(Wait...did you see our price yet?)

...and grab it, we didn’t get much. Dark, sultry, even, with cherry-cocoa, espresso, plum, black currants...deep, super silky and packed with mega-yum. Drink it now or hold it for a few years…! Whatever you do, do it quick!
