Lobo means “wolf” and this is a wine to set you howling! It’s primal, it’s inky dark, and kinda fierce (in a good way!) Victoria Coleman (who’s made wine everywhere – from China to First Growth, Mouton-Rothschild in her storied career) is at the helm here…and…BRAVO! Not only is she a general bad-ass who stands as Napa's first black woman winemaker (and first black woman to graduate UC Davis’ revered oenology/vit program), she has a rare talent for coaxing elegance, power, and purity from this Oak Knoll site. She’s been leading Lobo’s winemaking for 17 years…and if this house isn’t on your radar yet – consider yourself officially ON NOTICE!
Silky, powerful, plush stuff, singing to the cheap seats with all the ripeness, spice, and unbridled hedonism of your classic, no-holds-barred Napa cab. Juicy and full-throttle right out the gate, with crushed blackberry pie, crushed blueberries, and perfectly ripe plums, whiffs of espresso and toffee, dark cocoa, and a chef’s kiss of Madagascar vanilla…HUZZAH! Rich, round, and fleshy mid-palate – totally irresistible and dangerously delicious. It will keep a few years, but it is literally drinking perfectly TODAY. In Spanish, “lobo” means wolf – a name that Lobo Wines owners Krys and Randy Wulff chose to honor Napa’s long-standing Hispanic workforce. The Wulffs started making their artisan-crafted wines in 2007 to much fanfare and critical acclaim. They produce two cabernet sauvignons, merlot, pinot noir, chardonnay, rosé of pinot noir, and a proprietary red blend that they’ve called “Howl.”

About The Producer
More than 20 years ago, Lobo Wines proprietors Krys and Randy Wulff planted their first-ever vineyard – chardonnay in the Oak Knoll district north of Napa – using a new Dijon clone and breaking local tradition by close-row planting. Winemaker extraordinaire Randy Lewis took notice and has bought some of their fruit ever since. Planting more and more vineyards, they initially sold all their fruit to top wineries like Lewis Cellars and Mumm Napa. Now, they reserve a small allotment to use for their own splendid and dimensional wine varietals.
