World's End Cabernet Sauvignon If Six Was Nine Reserve Napa Valley 2016
TUBE SCREAMER. Super-Overdrive. Metal Zone. StroboStomp.
All guitar effects pedal names* (I want that job), but man, do they apply to this opulent beast!! YES! $46 less than anyone else, $106 OFF RETAIL, a face-melting mega-distortion guitar solo of a deal on a well-known and loved Napa cab! Yes, back to the proverbial well of deep, dark, brooding magic-sauce that is the 2016 World’s End cabs...just a TINY bit though, so if you know these, snap snap SNAP them up.
As your humble scribe, you’d think I’d be immune to the ferocious pace of brain-melting deals that cross my desk every day. I’m not. The World’s End “If Six was Nine” Reserve is such a tremendous buy - we’re nearly speechless. Surprisingly fresh, yet churning, bubbling and gushing with molten puddles of cassis, dark chocolate, sweet tobacco, blackberry compote and black plums, the wine is everything we’ve come to expect from Jonathan Maltus (Google him), with a reputation forged of the culty Chateau LE DOME, Chateau Teyssier, and many more in Bordeaux (predominantly Right Bank). This is his Napa project, all named after songs he loves (If 6 Was 9 is a Jimi Hendrix all-time classic), and he accesses all the big vineyards (To-Kalon, George III, etc). The wines get big scores, but for whatever reason, this was never sent in for reviews. Anyways, that’s amazing news for YOU, because…well, THE PRICE!! For cab at this level? It’s tube-screaming, flanging canyon-delay, fuzz-driving pitch-shifting over-drive distortion silliness. While it lasts!

IF SIX WAS NINE is the Estate’s take on a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon varietal wine. However, being from Bordeaux it’s difficult to live with just one variety! So a little Merlot is blended in to help the middle palate and Cabernet Franc to provide just that extra bit of lift. The wine is sourced from a number of different vineyards which all have something in common – they are from the classic valley floor, cool climate hill or mountain vineyards. Each element brings to the final blend different values – a richness from the valley and a raciness from the mountains.

About The Producer
World's End is a Californian winery known for high-quality Napa red wines. The label is an extension of the JCP Maltus/SCEA Château Teyssier group, whose key estate is Château Teyssier in Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux. World's End was started in 2008 by Jonathan Maltus, who had made a name for himself in Bordeaux as an early garagiste producer. Maltus had his Bordeaux winemakers – also consultants at Château Cheval Blanc – make the wines of World's End, which premiered to immediate critical success
