Aldenalli Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2018
93 POINT, killer-diller pinot noir from three supremely famous vineyards on the Sonoma Coast? That’ll do. But at this stellar price…and nearly 57% OFF?!?! Let the Pinot Madness begin!
BAM! Now that’s kicked up a notch (or two, or three…regardless, Emeril Lagasse rules)! Whatever are you ranting about, Last Bottle guy? Let me tell you…this is what happens when you pair up one of the founders of Kosta Browne (arguably California’s most famous contribution to pinot noir) and the culinary, hospitality, philanthropy mega-empire of the Lagasse family. I give you, ALDENALLI!
This Sonoma Coast pinot noir is a cuvée of three vineyards: Campbell Ranch, Roger’s Creek, and Sunchase Vineyards. Single-vineyard cuvees from any of these three sites often fetch prices $75 and up…and nowhere near the ridonkulously discounted price of a mere $25! TWENTY FIVE, my friends! Inky, blue, and red fruits with the diversity of Sonoma Coast showing all its traits. Rich cherry cola, cool raspberries, and bramble leaves, minerally, spicy, with an elegant kiss of Tahitian vanilla – this is long, smooth, and crowd-pleasing, with enough complexity to satisfy the most discerning of pinot-files.
By now, y’all can probably guess how we came across this… 2018 vintage, fourteen months in barrel, and as you might imagine, a lot of this production was earmarked for sale at Emeril’s vast restaurant empire… to be released right around April 2020…hmm, I forget, was something going on around then?!?!
Anywho, we’re just thrilled to have pounced on this! We got as much as we could, but y’all have been rightly thirsty for quality Cali-pinot of late…so it may not be enough!!! But truly, this is some seriously pedigreed, enormously complex juice at a price like something from a dream of yesteryear. Dan Kosta and Alden Lagasse came about this partnership rather organically. If you didn’t already know, Emeril and Alden are huge supporters of education, helping to raise millions of dollars for children each year through the Emeril Lagasse Foundation. Dan met Alden at an event and became fast friends with a shared love of food and wine (our people!). They started AldenAlli in 2013, and the rest is history! Spectacular vineyards, great winemaking, awesome people… this is one of those wines we just love on every level. While it lasts!!
A cuveé of three distinct cool-climate vineyards, the AldenAlli Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir offers more than the sum of its parts. Coastal Campbell Ranch vineyard provides elegance, brightness and acidity, complimented by the structure, medium-body and spice characteristics of Roger's Creek and Sunchase Vineyard in the Petaluma Wind Gap.
