Ragtag Wine Co. Meritage Paso Robles 2019
In today’s episode of “did you know…” – RAGTAG! In the 16th & 17th centuries – spoiled rich aristocrats belittled the working class by calling them “rag and tag,” which meant ragged (i.e., starving) with torn clothes. Words can hurt, right?
Welp, today, RAGTAG means something else entirely! It means over 58% off. It means small, micro-production, artisanal PASO ROBLES red – of the highest order. It means rip-roaringly voluptuous, hedonistic, and concentrated Paso thunder. Like ‘em soft and tame? Then this is not the droid you are looking for! Cabernet base, plus other Bordeaux players, in an ensemble cast worthy of Central Perk! (RIP, Mr. Perry.)
OK, it’s BIG, but it’s not going to hurt you, promise. It is, however, literally EXPLODING with red strawberry and blackberry aromas and flavors, then candied cherries, plums, melted milk chocolate, black pepper, mocha, vanilla, raspberry liqueur...just...WOW! Intense! Gnarly! Well under $25?!?! Meritage (say it like you would heritage) means Bordeaux red, Cali-style – so we’re talking cabernet sauvignon, malbec, and petit verdot here – a tried and true concoction that is just shreddingly good. POWERFUL and deeply rich, metric TONS going on here, like most of the Ragtag wines we have tried – heady, low-acid, opulent grandeur, percolating aromatics, and a ripe, lusciously smooth and concentrated finish. A head-spinner of a bottle that is meant to make an impression. Our price should too, 58% OFF!! Amazing! POWER to the people! Not a lot of this one!!
In 2016, siblings Sarah and Jeff set out to create a winery that celebrated the diversity of the Central Coast terroir with eclectic, small-batch wines.

About The Producer
Sarah Brewer was an entrepreneur and business owner in San Luis Obispo, but wine was always her muse. Her brother, Jeff Huskey, began his career in the San Luis Obisbo wine industry in 2008 and always dreamed of making wines for a label of his own. It was kismet– through their collaboration, Ragtag Wine Co. was born.
Ragtag sources fruit from across the Central Coast, spanning from San Luis Obispo, to Paso Robles, and Monterey County.
