It’s for real, y’all. Tell your friends (or not) but for all that is sacred… get some of this, QUICK! 98 POINTS and $14 is NOT a sentence I get to type every day. And I’m not talking 98 from some questionable rag of ill repute, either... (Sorry, Bob’s Bodacious Wine Review Quarterly… back to your Mom’s basement.) Winestate Magazine is Australia’s longest running independent wine magazine, tasting over 10,000 wines a year since 1978… they know Aussie juice like few others in the world do, and they loved this wine. We tasted it a few months back, on a misty, cool morning in July with Jo Watkins herself. Revelatory. Jo’s brother Sam is the winemaker, her other brother, Ben, the commerce director. They’ve been in the wine business for nearly three decades, but only recently turned to bottling under their own label. One sip of this and you’ll agree… What took them so LONG?!?

JUICY. Thirst-quenching, soul-satisfying, killer-cab-hunger-abating-goodness through and through. WOW! Simply pulsing with blue fruits - boysenberry, blueberry, wonka berries (might have made that last one up) – plus black plums, candied violets, roasted sage, bay laurel – all wrapped up in a delicate yet full hug of nicely toasted oak. The age has given this depth, but the wine’s structure keeps things so fresh and bright you’ll swear it's no more than two years old. This vineyard is just south of Adelaide, set upon rolling hills overlooking a creek that runs out a couple of miles downstream into the great blue ocean yonder. Easily one of the BEST cabs for $14 we’ve ever had. Like EVER. Crazy accessible and wildly easy to drink (man, c’mon, 98 POINTS at this price!). If you need a “house” red, THIS is it!
