Bonny Doon Rosé Vin Gris de Cigare Central Coast 2020 - Last Bottle

Bonny Doon Rosé Vin Gris de Cigare Central Coast 2020

Two words…Randall. Grahm. Ok…two more…NINE DOLLARS! We’re blowing it up for ALL the moms out there today – and if you didn’t get yours as a present, or even if you did…get some of this!!!

The very first Rhone Ranger. The man whose “Le Cigare Volant” set the standard for homages to Chateauneuf-du-Pape in California way, way back in 1986. He’s in the American Vintners Hall of Fame. He has a James Beard award for his contribution to the wine industry. HE HAS AN ASTEROID NAMED AFTER HIM (seriously…its name is 4934 Rhoneranger)!! So yeah, as legendary anchorman Ron Burgundy would say, he’s “kind of a big deal”…but here’s an even bigger deal! We’re talking lights out, try again later, never gonna beat this...NINE DOLLARS! That’s the BEST price ANYWHERE, and our competition is about as close as I am to starting in goal for the New York Rangers in round three of the NHL playoffs. 92 POINTS AND a Wine Enthusiast Best Buy. Our crazy price makes this a MUST BUY…so do NOT delay!!!

We’re talking grenache dominant (over 70%), but flecked and speckled with all kinds of cool Rhone grapes – reds AND whites – like cinsault, clairette blanche, grenache blanc, mourvedre, and vermentino! The wine is even more complex than you’d imagine with this pedigree and that cast of players…this is NOT. ANY. ORDINARY. ROSÉ. It’s better now than the day I first tried it – still uber-fresh with summer strawberry and red rose petals, cool, saturated, and crunchy slate, a chalky, mineral-y spine of freshness supporting notes of honeydew melon, yuzu sorbet, and orange creamsicle – all coated in tingly, spicy Szechuan peppercorns! Bone dry and WOWEE this is fun! Sure, it’s crushable as all rosé wines ought to be, but there is so much possibility to this…try it with foods that you’d normally pair with pinot noir. Fill up a porron and let the shenanigans ensue. All this possibility and countless more for the really, truly, heart-stoppingly deal of just $9…NINE DOLLARS!!! Have some fun, get a case…get two! Load up for Summer and drink two, or three bottles a week, and have the time of your life!!!

** Randall Grahm – with kick-ass glasses and a cool long, gray ponytail – is just one mad cool dude. He even has an award-winning book called “Been Doon So Long” that I highly recommend…and not just because the title rocks. He’s a legend and we should all raise a glass of this, point it at his asteroid (it’s somewhere up there), and take a hearty gulp… Prost. **

A passion for pinot noir, turned quest for the quintessential California blend became one of the world’s largest and most recognizable wine brands. That is, until Bonny Doon’s founder and eccentric wine celebrity, Randall Grahm decided to sell off the big brands and pair Bonny Doon back to its original, artisanal glory.

About The Producer

Randall Grahm found himself sweeping floors at the Wine Merchant in Beverly Hills after his undergrad, an especially advantageous spot for the wine-obsessed. There, he tasted loads of fine French wines and became totally and completely hooked. He went on to earn his degree in Plant Sciences from the University of California Davis in 1979, and after graduation,  purchased his first property in the Bonny Doon hamlet of the Santa Cruz Mountains with his sights laser-focused on producing the “Great American Pinot Noir.” The Great American Pinot proved to be...illusive, but Randall did find that Rhône varieties were what stuck. He continued to innovate; Bonny Doon was the first in California to work with cryo-extraction, utilize microbullage, and the first to popularize screw-caps on premium bottles. All of that creativity caused the Bonny Doon brand to effectively explode, becoming the 28th largest wine producer in the US.  The wine empire didn’t hurt, but Randall decided it was time to scale it down, and sold three of Bonny Doon’s largest brands by 2010. Today, Bonny Doon’s focus is on the vineyards, crafting smaller production wines with a lighter touch, and of course, relentless innovation and creativity.
