Santa Barbara Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara 2019
Sunday Case Sale was a SUCCESS! Thank you to all who participated! Now onto our favorite under $20 daily drinker!
We may reside and do our biz in the verdant and exceptional Cab Country of Napa Valley, but we keep a very close eye on our neighbors down south too, and a quick trip to Santa Barbara County (which may or may not have included Gibson martinis, chasing goats, being chased by goats, and more than a few microbreweries…) yielded this POUND-THE-TABLE, lush, generous, killer CALI-CAB at a jaw-snapping deal of a price. A HUGE no-brainer for Cab lovers...just DO. IT. QUICK! 50% OFF, good people! This is also a sellout alert!! Happy Canyon is THE place to grow Bordeaux varieties in Santa Barbara – and this Cabernet (with a skosh of Petit Verdot) is PUMPING!!!
First off – if you are ever in the area, go VISIT Santa Barbara Winery. The legendary PIERRE LAFOND, a Santa Barbara institution, and pioneering winery, that has been ridiculously over-delivering for DECADES. What a spot! Second – did you put some of this in your cart yet? Here’s why – for a paltry $19, this baby packs in tiers of black cherry, spunky blueberry character, a dash of toasty, caramel-y, butterscotch-y, and peppery oak, and an ambrosial hint of some really pricey dark chocolate you buy at the high-end market for like $20 a bar. Long, bright, fresh, and luscious – and just super-easy to LOVE, this is a wicked steal at our cray-cray UNDER $20 price. But we WILL sell out – Cabernet always does and we NEVER get enough! While it lasts…!
If you like Santa Barbara wines, you have Pierre Lafond to thank...

About The Producer
In 1962, Pierre Lafond founded the first post-prohibition winery in Santa Barbara County. At the time, there weren’t even grapes grown in the area. It would take another 10 years for another winery to open in the county– today, there are over 100. Pierre took the leap because he loved fine wine, particularly French wine, and saw it as a fun business venture to complement his wine and cheese shop. Just shy of a decade later, he would oversee one of the first commercial vineyard plantings in Santa Barbara post-prohibition. Those holdings are in the highly acclaimed Santa Rita Hills AVA between two east-west mountain ranges that funnel morning fog into the vineyard valley, extending their growing season and allowing for intensely concentrated fruit. Today, Santa Barbara is a major player in stellar pinot noir production, and Lafond is the producer that reignited the winemaking flame in the region.
