Tassi Brunello di Montalcino 2018

BRUNELLO! Oh baby, where have you BEEN?!! We never get enough Tassi (especially at prices like this!!), and today we have their ROCKING, utterly screaming-delicious 96+ POINTER from the heart of Montalcino. Over 37% OFF? This is one of the GREATS!

In the “cool and classic” 2018 vintage, some Brunello’s soared, and others flailed. Tassi absolutely SKYROCKETED with this stunner. Mountains of juicy raspberries, orange peels, tart cherries, red plums…plus some cool baking spice notes, with hints of balsamic, new leather, and glorious porcini mushrooms. Wowza. Certainly doesn’t taste like a “cool” vintage, but I’m absolutely vibing on the “classic” front. Nicely concentrated, but silky and brimming with finesse – this is a finely tuned sports car that is ready to roll. Won’t live forever like the ‘15 or ‘16 vintages, but offering up glorious sip after sip for the next decade, no problem!

If this is your first go at Tassi, there is a little wine shop inside the fortress at the top of Montalcino. Built in 1361 (*mind*blown*), Fabio Tassi runs it (along with a couple killer restaurants across the street), on top of his vintner duties – this man is PASSIONATE about Brunello, trust us. And his wines are stupendously delicious – rich in style, perfumey and intense, with good weight and terrific personality. We are HUGE fans and completely STOKED to have some to sell! Brunello! 96+ points! HUZZAH!

The family’s “Vigna Franci” vineyard is where this sangiovese is grown – from right on the slopes beneath the ancient castle of Velona – and WOW is this good! Single vineyard, organically farmed Brunello is rare enough...but with 96+ POINTS and over 37% OFF? Unreal. We’ve said it before but this might be the greatest “normale” Brunello out there. Their top stuff is FAR more pricey but for sheer quality and value – this can’t be beat! Here’s the play – get a steak. Sear it. Drizzle the best olive oil you can find on top when it hits the plate. EAT. DRINK this Brunello. Stare up at the stars with a dazed look of utter happiness while you embrace this magical, wonderful life. While it lasts!

The Tassi Family’s holdings consist of four vineyards – Vigneto Fanci, Vigneto Tassi, Vigneto Colombaiolo, and Vigneto Il Geppino – spanning about 7 hectares in Castelnuovo dell’Abate.

About The Producer

Tassi Montalcino’s roots are in beekeeping – the estate and cellar were dedicated to honey production for most of its history. The family business transitioned its efforts to the production of Brunello di Montalcino in the 1990s, under the leadership of third-generation family owner, Fabio Tessi.
