$14…FOURTEEN DOLLARS!!! This calls for one final James Brown dance around the warehouse for the year (I feel GOOD!!). Spain’s Jumilla region is on fire (a “winemaking revolution” according to some) and this monastrell (aka mourvèdre), syrah, and cabernet sauvignon blend is the sexiest, most OMG-fill-my-glass-again wine you’ve probably never tasted. Old vines, limestone soils, crazy long and sunny, and perfectly warm days combine to forge this rich, fleshy, round, and juicy wine that just ROCKS! Think crazy levels of drinkability, here! Mouth-watering blue and black fruits – like blueberries, blackberries, black cherries, plums – WOWZA! Ripe and saturated fruits, but then comes the dark cocoa, the black pepper, the candied violets, and wild, roasted herbs with salty, meaty olive tapenade and this cool and minty anise liqueur thing going in at the finish. For WHAT price?! I need to sit down. EVERYONE needs a few of these in their house – opening up a bottle of this is just NEVER the wrong call.

With state-of-the-art facilities serving as the cornerstone of Ego Bodegas wine-making venture, they are dedicated to ensuring a clean and safe vinification process by embracing the best available technology. Situated just a few kilometers from the historic city of Jumilla, the winery boasts 35 hectares of vineyards predominantly featuring native varieties, notably monastrell. From the outset, the founders adopted a contemporary approach to winemaking, seamlessly blending traditional methods with modern techniques, evident in their meticulous fermentation process, carried out in separate steel tanks with capacities ranging from 4,000 to 12,000 kilograms.

About The Producer
Ego Bodegas defies industry norms by not being rooted in a rich tradition passed down through generations or driven by an ardent desire to cultivate vineyards. Instead, this venture was born from the passion and dedication of its partners, embodied in their first wine, aptly named "Talent." Santos Ortiz, hailing from Spain, and Ioana Paunescu from Romania, embarked on this journey in 2011 with limited financial resources, but with an extraordinary talent for crafting wine. They settled on a remarkable farm in an elevated area known as Carpenter's Place surrounded by monastrell vineyards.
