Chateau La Tour Figeac Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2019 - Last Bottle

Chateau La Tour Figeac Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2019

Sometimes…just sometimes, the critics do most of my job for me…

“A major sleeper for the year, La Tour Figeac is a knock-out” - Antonio Galloni, 94 points

“...a classy, medium to full-bodied Saint-Emilion with supple, finely polished tannins, terrific overall balance, and a great finish. This wonderful 2019 already offers loads of pleasure and will keep for 15-20 years, easily.” - Jeb Dunnuck, 94 points

“Damn! This is SEXY! Got anymore?” - my brother, when I opened this over the holidays, 97 points (probably…)!

If this offer doesn’t set your toes a’twinkling…you might need bigger shoes. DOUBLE 94 POINT blockbuster from 2019, a GRAND CRU bottle of Bordeaux awesomeness that you might rightly mistake for a number of $150+ Napa reds!! Under $50 today! YES!!

LA TOUR FIGEAC, good people! Situated on the Rodeo Drive of Saint-Emilion, this historic estate – once an important part of the massive, 200-hectare Château Figeac estate – neighbors the incomparable Château CHEVAL BLANC. From there, take a rock and throw it, and BOOM! Pomerol’s CHATEAU PETRUS (ok, it’s actually about a mile away...but still)! This is the heart and soul of Bordeaux’s Right Bank – where wines easily climb into the $300, $500, $1200, and up price range at breakneck speeds. But this! Yours today for the BEST IN THE USA PRICE of only $45!

Unreal, right? Famed oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt (with more 95-100 point scores than I can count!) consults at the estate and his wife, Christine Derenoncourt, is the director of Château La Tour Figeac. This estate is all ORGANIC and biodynamically farmed since 1997, too. That makes them Bordeaux Biodynamic pioneers, folks, and these happy, healthy, pristine vines are just PUMPING out that good juice! Mostly merlot, but really, it’s the we’re-gonna-need-a-bigger-boat chunk of intoxicating cabernet franc that truly sets the pace. Those come-hither aromas of rose petals and mocha-dusted black cherries! The spicy licorice and dried herb background complement to all that silky kirsch, raspberry, and blueberry notes...WOWEE (refills glass)! If you love ethereally elegant, powerfully bold, eternally pleasing big and bad red wines – do not delay one second longer! Read the full critics' take below, but trust me, this is a turned-up-to-11, extra donkey sauce, Thrilla in Manila wine event that anyone who loves Napa reds, or Bordeaux, or cabernet franc, or puppies, or unlimited ice cream...just...GO!

While it lasts, my friends!

58 hectares, one single block, vines aged 40 years on average, and centuries of history.

About The Producer

The history of Château La Tour de Mons goes back to the year 1098, with the creation of the seigneury of Soussans. The land saw several generations of owners throughout its early history, but it was Pierre de Mons who acquired the land through marriage in 1623 and dedicated his life to its vineyard development. By the end of his career at the château, he owned all seven seigneuries which made up the domain of Soussans at its origin. Chateau La Tour de Mons was passed down between generations, and then between companies, until it was acquired by the Perrodo family, owners of Château Labégorce Margaux and Château Marquis d’Alesme. They hit the ground running– in the few short years of ownership, the Perrodo family has constructed a new winery and storage cellar, implemented a new drainage management, and launched dedicated sustainability efforts on the estate.
