Tenuta Terre Nere Brunello di Montalcino 2017
Oh, Brunello. We can’t drink enough of it. Especially when it is OVER 50% OFF! Did I say 94 POINTS?! Glory be!! Critics were quick to pigeonhole the 2017 vintage (The iconic 2016 admittedly is a hard act to follow), but…MAN! We’re a full SEVEN years in, and these wines are crushing it! If you’re talking about drinking now or anytime in the next couple of years, 2017s are the JAM – particularly this gorgeous Brunello from the beloved Vallone family! I’ve tucked away the 2016s and 2015s for now – they need more time for my taste, but not this! After Champagne, THIS is the most oft-consumed wine in my household – and I just re-stocked it to make sure it stays that way!
Francesca Vallone continuously crafts sensually delicious, rich, velvety Brunello that outshines many of her neighbors – all at an UNFATHOMABLE price! She’s the second generation winemaker, overseeing the ORGANIC agriculture in their 15 hectares, racking and blending in the cellars, and just kicking some serious Brunello booty with these wines. Trust me, trust the force, trust the force projection of Obi-Wan Kenobi…these ARE the droids you’re looking for!
CHERRIES! How many kinds of cherries are there? Well, at least half of them are here, maybe more. Dried cherry too, plus cranberry and lip-smacking red plums...mmmm!!! It’s simply impossible to resist...complex and long, with a nice round middle texture and a savory, juicy finish, sappy aromatics of crushed rose petals and dusty, warm spices, then rich baked clay, and deftly integrated shades of toasty oak, but mostly the wonderful mouth-filling harmony you get, glass after glass! Man, can’t wait to be back in Italy – but this might be the next best thing! 94 POINTS and sure to leave you in a satisfied stupor! Open a bottle of this. Marvel at the simple beauty of great food and great wine. Repeat. You won’t regret it…but you can MISS it! We never get enough, so PLEASE do what you can to snag some...while it lasts!

About The Producer
The Vallone family’s winemaking history was ignited by a prison camp escape...
Salvatore Vallone first went to Tuscany to visit his brother-in-law, who had fled to Tuscany after escaping a prison camp during WWII. He fell in love, and moved his family to their new Tuscan estate, where they raised cattle, made cheese, and produced oil and table wine. Salvatore would pass his knowledge onto his son, Pasquale, who would go on to establish Terre Nere after falling in love with a wild, unspoiled area to the south-east of Montalcino. He acquired the estate in 1997 planted ten hectares of vines, and released the first Brunello Terre Nere by 2002. Pasquale has shared his wealth of viticultural knowledge with his son Federico, who presently collaborates with his father in the family enterprise.
