Recoltant Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Napa Valley 2019 - Last Bottle

Recoltant Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Napa Valley 2019

HOLD. ON. Wow! We taste A TON of cab at Last Bottle World Headquarters and this Reserve bottling from Recoltant is a head-spinning value that defies reality. NAPA CAB!?! At FORTY-FIVE DOLLARS below retail?

Yes, yes, you read that correctly – RECOLTANT is BACK! Another devastatingly dark, intense, plush beast is here, at the same galaxy-rocking price as last year (can we tell you how insanely fast that one went, and all the endless requests for more??!!)! OVER 55% OFF! Cabernet from Napa at this level, with this AMAZING price doesn’t happen often enough! Don’t confuse this with Recoltant's lesser Napa cab bottling, this is their hard-to-find reserve wine!

In 2029 or so, you'll be extra-stoked you bought an extra case for the cellar. OK. The deets. Julien Fayard started this brand several years ago and then sold it a few years back. He, of course, is the Provence-born Frenchman behind wines that you already know and love, not to mention cargo-hauler loads of HUGE scores and critical acclaim (Google him!), and he set the tone for this wildly delish cabernet. BUT!! With Julien gone, the owners turned to the absolutely BRILLIANT Britt Richards and she’s simply crushed it. She’s made wine at Chappellet, Peter Michael, Atelier Melka, and Jordan, to name just a few...so she knows her stuff! We tasted this and POW!!! Still IMMENSELY big, impossibly lush, classically hedonistic Napa Valley cabernet with an accessible price – an incredibly fair retail price of $80. Yes, $80 is accessible for a wine of this pedigree. But...of course...you know, we do what WE do...can you say THIRTY-FIVE DOLLARS?!?! WOOO HOOO!!

Dense and dark, potent, juicy, and definitely singing with cassis and blackberry extract, mulberries, and sweet croissant dough, a high-toned note of red raspberries and red currants, and a warm, easy, slide-into-it-with-ease texture as the cigar-boxy, leather, toasty spice complete the scene. 2019 is a fantastic vintage here, and this has more structure and beefiness than the 2018 – but with that pretty, deft, and oh-so distinctive 2019-ness! Just a COLOSSAL, simply outrageous Napa cabernet buy – a no-brainer of the highest order, we think – back up the truck, please. I need four more of these…better make it a case just to be careful!

Récoltant is a French term for a farmer who grows and harvests their fruit, intent on selling it to top winemakers who will represent the fruit in its purest form. Inspired by this, Recoltant Napa Valley Cabernet is sourced from some of the most revered landscapes in the region, rooting itself in a time and place that’s true of its terroir.

Authored by Julien Fayard, Récoltant celebrates Napa Valley’s farmers, crafted with the same standards of excellence Julien practiced while he was Director of Winemaking for Philippe Melka at elite Napa Valley producers like Lail, Gemstone, Hundred Acre, and Mastery.
