I’m starting my weekend early with a glass of this INKY and INTENSE powerhouse of a cabernet. Sure, it might be 8:45 AM, and sure, the cleaning crew ladies are giving me looks of equal amounts of pity and disgust, but one sip and…WORTH IT! Diamond Mountain is one of the last secrets of Napa Valley, and this new project is setting out to change all that! You simply can’t find wines like this, from one of the smallest AVAs in Napa, at ANYWHERE NEAR this price! Don’t believe me? Check out these epic Diamond Dogs (yes, that’s a Ted Lasso reference…): Lokoya (~$449), any of Diamond Creek’s treasures (~$299), and even newcomer The Vineyardist’s Heritage Ridge (~$275)...how’s that for sticker shock?

We’re talking about $44! FOUR-TEA-FOUR Dollars, good people! Now I’m not saying this is a straight one-to-one match of the immortal Diamond Creek cabernets, but at ONE SIXTH the price, I still know which one I’m going for. It’s pretty darn close, and that is the highest praise I got. Three of these are signed, sealed, and delivered to your door for a crazy 132 big ones. THAT’S IT! Oh, right…the wine. Big cab VIBES… check. Rich, voluptuous, high-toned notes of violets, raspberries, baker’s chocolate, black pepper, and black cherry preserves, check. Tightly grained tannins, uplifted with bright and fresh acidity, with nuanced mineral/volcanic edge…checkmate. The Vice is a recent start-up that is generating some serious attention for making some of the best value cabernets in Napa, and this might be their very best effort to date. Did I mention 50% OFF?!
