You know by now that we’ve been Champagne Gardet superfans for years. Their standards are impeccably high across the portfolio. And you KNOW we did our on-the-ground research, besides studying our way to the bottom of copious bottles. We’ve ogled the shiny tanks, shaken the Prieux family’s hands, felt the solemn CHILL of the labyrinthian crypts 100 feet deep beneath the dreamy village of Chigny-les-Roses where rows and stacks of their beautiful bottles wait in silence!!

As a négociant-manipulant, Gardet sources their grape-y raw materials from some of the nicest vineyards in the Champagne AOC…oh là là. But one of my frothy frenemies here at work was able to negociant and manipulant the price on this 1895 (themed for their founding year) down to an INCREDIBLE $42 – instead of the $80 you’d normally be asked to pony up. So giddyup, sparkle ponies, because this one’s a dangerously short shipment.

The 94 point object of our obsession is a blend of 45% Pinot Noir, 45% Pinot Meunier, and 10% Chardonnay. Luscious, and simply saturated in deliciousness, with a creamy and rich opulence that miraculously holds fast to this tart and focused edge of citrus and ginger. She’s just shimmying with freshly baked brioche, and golden plums, with Suncrisp apples, and this floral marzipan note ELEVATING me heavenward into honeysuckle, and tangerines, til I’m fully entranced in honeycomb nougat…this baddie is just befuddlingly good…is it creamy? Or electrifyingly racy? “A compelling mix of richness and focus,” says Decanter. Yup, DECIDEDLY, brilliantly, it’s both, and you simply cannot have enough.
