LAST BOTTLE

Il Molino di Grace’s FLAGSHIP is back...and HOW!!!! 98 POINTS and one utterly fantastic Toscana Rosso – Chianti’s heritage grapes for this all-time Last Bottle favorite!

Il Molino di Grace just might be my favorite winery stay in the entire world – a heavenly plot on Panzano’s pristine landscape – with jaw-dropping views, exceptional artwork everywhere you look, and the most incredible Tuscan stone farmhouse that goes back to the 10th century. The Grace family, and their lovable English setter, George, have been good enough to host the Last Bottle crew for years…but all fawning over the perks of working in this industry aside – the juice FLAT…OUT…DELIVERS!!!

98 POINTS, people! GRATIUS has evolved to become the winery’s top dog (after George, of course) these past several years – a statement piece that takes the estate’s BEST Sangiovese, carefully marries it with some 5% each of the ancient and heritage Chianti legends Colorino and Canaiolo, and then allows it to soften in a massive wooden botti for a full year prior to bottling. It’s hypnotic…transcendental stuff, a near-perfect balance between old-world, earthy, spicy complexity and sheer, unabashed, soul-filling, fruit-forward pleasure – and we’ve scored it for OVER $100 LESS!!!

Under $50 is an all-time bank heist on this little baddie – especially when you remember that this comes from a single hillside parcel up at 580 meters in elevation, that has been farmed for at least the last 350 years! The oozing-ripe black cherries, and crushed blackberries, uplifted with an entire BAZZAR of exotic spices, built atop an iron backbone of muscular intensity, and the soporific sappiness of candied violets and pomegranate tea. A dash of zippy orange peel freshness to brighten it all up…you bet!!! It’s salty, minerally, and infused with the rolling hillsides, galestro soils, and ancient blood of old ITALIA herself!

98 POINTS! Plus 96 POINTS, and the I-will-DIE-on-this-hill guarantee that this wine and this estate should be tops on the list of anyone planning a visit to Tuscany or hoping to imbibe some of the best, off-the-radar juice in all of Tuscany. It outdrinks wines at two to three times our epic price – but this limited bottling gets harder and harder to get every year – so consider this grand opportunity to score while we’ve still got it!

**P.S. – a very happy 75th Birthday to my MOM!!! Sending all my love from across the sea…and I’ll bring you a bottle of this to share…SOON!!!**

”Gratius is the estate’s wine, and arguably Gran Selezione quality, crafted in one large Botti, aged for a year, and exceptional. Readers will recall this wine’s former labels: black, with a statue of a woman and a man, and the word “Gratius” on it. In 2018, the winery began an artist label series, and this 2022 bottling bears a striking label (tree, vine, earth) designed by Valentino Monticello, named ‘Wine as Art.’ It’s brooding, bursting with dark rose petal and cherry fruit, tar, and anise, further enhanced by impressive concentration and power, and finishing with dark berry fruit, redwood spices, and more mineral accents on the full-bodied and expressive finish. A blend of 90% Sangiovese, 5% each of Colorino and Canaiolo.” -The Tasting Panel

”Medium ruby with a garnet-red rim. Spicy on the nose, followed by fully ripe sweet cherries, along with a hint of marzipan and fine wood; the aromas unfold in layers. Silky on the palate, with sweet fruit once again, very well-integrated oak and tannins, supported by lively acidity; long and very well-balanced.” -Falstaff
