ALMA ROSA!!! One of the hottest, most collectible names of California’s Central Coast…and we’ve got another of their TOP bottlings scored for this spring Sunday!!! Founded by one of the most ICONIC names in California Pinot Noir — the one and only RICHARD SANFORD! Yes, my young padewans…he of SANFORD & BENEDICT fame…and without question the Central Coast’s most revered vineyard guru. He planted Sanford & Benedict vineyard back in 1971 — making him a pioneer for both Santa Barbara wines and the mighty rise of California Pinot. He’s retired (and well-earned!), but currently lives on the Alma Rosa property amongst the vines he planted. The wines today are crafted by THOMAS RIVERS BROWN’S understudy and fully-fledged RISING STAR, Samra Morris — with the LEGENDARY Tony Biagi consulting. I mean…C’MON!

Radian Vineyard is one of the most sought-after on the entire Cali coast — with juggernauts like Dragonette, Kosta Browne, Liquid Farm, The Hilt (Jonata), and MORE clamoring to get access to this epic fruit, grown in a bowl-like amphitheater on the extreme western edge of the Santa Rita Hills region. This is considered by many to be the coolest vineyard along the California Coast, with one of the longest Pinot Noir growing seasons ANYWHERE! The red fruit depth, and crushed stone minerality, with the perfectly infused barrel notes that give spice, new leather, and silky chocolate tones…WOWZA! Alpine strawberries, and pulverized raspberries, with pretty little affectations of hibiscus and rose petals, then this petrified backbone of graphite and gravel, then roasted herbs, orange peel, and star anise, cinnamon, and cardamom, too!!! This beauty is really JUST starting to shine — and shine it shall for easily the next decade. DOUBLE 97 POINTS, people! To have this for UNDER $45 puts a smile on this grizzled, old wine-slinger’s face…but BARELY enough for a slow Sunday…so do what you must and FLY to those carts, people!

"The vivid ruby-hued 2022 Pinot Noir Radian comes from a great site located on the western end of the Sta. Rita Hills and was destemmed and raised in 40% new French oak. It has an incredibly mineral-laced nose of wild strawberries, crushed stone, graphite, and leather, with some background floral nuances. Its purity, precision, and overall balance are a step up over the other releases here, and it has gorgeous mid-palate depth, ripe yet building tannins, and a great finish. It's up with some of the finest Pinot Noirs in the vintage and will benefit from a year or two in the cellar and evolve for a solid decade." ~Jeb Dunnuck
