This 1895 Origine wine hasn't been made for YEARS...but we stumbled upon an old bottle on a recent visit to the idyllic little Champagne hamlet of Chigny-les-Roses and absolutely loved it. We BEGGED the good folks at Gardet to bring it back...and promised to live up to our name and take every...LAST...BOTTLE, should they acquiesce to our request. And...BOOM!!! Luscious, and simply saturated in deliciousness, with creamy and rich opulence that somehow, miraculously, maintains this tart and focused edge of citrus, and ginger – just YUM!!! Freshly baked brioche, and golden plums, with Suncrisp apples, and this floral marzipan note that elevates this all to some godly ambrosial level. Honeysuckle, and tangerines, with this entrancing honeycomb nougat character…it’s captivating!  I always loved these wines…but then I visited their glorious cellar that winds its way for MILES under the rolling hills of Chigny-les-Roses – and now I am certifiably OBSESSED! Is it creamy? Or electrifyingly racy? It’s both, and I simply won’t stop sipping until the bottle is done and dusted!! This little village makes some absolutely stellar Champagne – with some incredibly famous neighbors, including Jay Z’s Armand de Brignac (aka Ace of Spades) and the ICONIC Lasalle family. Gardet’s cellars are legendary – I half expected to encounter the Minotaur – simply packed to the gills with stacks, and crates, and literal WALLS of glorious Champagne!! This beauty is a blend of 45% Pinot Noir, 45% Pinot Meunier, and 10% Chardonnay, all aged slowly for a full 42 months – and at the incredible ONLY @ Last Bottle price – this certified beauty packs a WHALLOP!
