“Hey, Coach Beard… what’s a “Flaneur”?” - Ted Lasso

A Wanderer!

Thanks, Ted Lasso, for continuing my education. And more besides! Ok, let’s get at it. On this fine Saturday (79 and sunny!) morning, we’re wandering up into the Chehalem Mountains of Oregon’s Willamette Valley for epic, aromatic, and oh-so-seductive PINOT NOIR! DOUBLE 93 POINTS, single vineyard goodness, ORGANICALLY FARMED, sustainably maintained, uber-dank! If you went GAGA for that Ribbon Ridge pinot vertical we offered up a couple of weeks back – these are their neighbors – and man, what a wine!!!

La Belle Promenade Vineyard sits high up in the coastal mountains at about 800 feet. Volcanic soils, cooling oceanic influences, and the long and slow ripening season make for one powerful black cherry BOMB! of epic proportions. Bracing acidity, beautiful balance, and this wonderfully smokey/meatiness endow this beauty with just gargantuan depth! Who doesn’t LOVE mulberries, right? And cola, and spicy herbs, raspberries, blueberries, bergamot tea, and this rich, fresh-pulled espresso aroma too – YOWZA! This is a treat! Did I mention it’s OVER 50% OFF?! Woooohoooooo!

Seriously, under $30 for a beauty of a single vineyard, AVA designated, Oregon monster of glorious pinosity – sign me up. But go like the Kerry wind in the Irish summer…this won’t be around long!!! Get a lot – this will sing for many a year to come!

93 POINTS
"Limpid ruby-red. Expressive, spice-tinged cherry and mulberry scents take on hints of woodsmoke, cola and botanical herbs with air. Appealingly sweet and focused on the palate, offering dark berry and cherry cola flavors that slowly firm up through the back half. Shows very good power but comes off lithe and finishes very long and gently chewy, with well-knit tannins and resonating spiciness." ~Vinous

"This treat from the Flâneur cellars features a medley of sweet and brambly fruit aromas of blackcap raspberries, blueberries and black currants. There's also a smoky/meaty note similar to steaks on a BBQ grill. Black cherries rule the flavor roost, where they are joined by bursts of espresso and lemon. Bracing acidity carries the day, with still sturdy tannins." ~Wine Enthusiast
