93 POINTS! The debut Dundee Hills vintage from the Silver Oak family’s brand-new Oregon winery? Oh yes, good people. This is one for the Pinot Noir faithful! Remember that Twomey Russian River from a few days back?! That CRUSHED…and I have no doubt this one will too – so don’t sleep on this baddie!!!

Back in the day, Oregon pioneers rolled in covered wagons in search of the Willamette Valley, and the dream of a better life. Dick Erath was a different kind of pioneer, but a pioneer nonetheless, planting the Prince Hill Vineyard to Pinot Noir in 1983 on those famous red Jory soils of the Dundee Hills. Then, the Duncan family (Silver Oak, Twomey, and Ovid) came along and scooped up the site, and now winemaker Chris Burrough is crafting wines under the Prince Hill name. It’s a debut vintage from a vineyard that’s been a Dundee Hills darling for decades.

Decanter calls it “classically Oregon,” and we couldn’t agree more: forest floor savoriness with black trumpet mushrooms, pine straw, and cool cedar, leading into a cascade of dark bramble berries, and savory spice, with plenty of graphite-infused structure to keep it interesting for years to come. Assam black tea lingers on the exotic and seductive finish, with a lasting aroma of crimson roses and peonies that embeds itself into your cerebral cortex like childhood trauma. But…you know…in a good way. Even at its $75 launch price, it’s a serious bottle worth capturing. For under $23 it’s a certified STEAL! You can’t find this anywhere else for anywhere near our RIDONKULOUS price – so hesitate at your own peril, my friends!

"Classically Oregon, the aromatics leap forward from this Pinot Noir from Prince Hill, their Dundee Hills bottling. Rich forest floor, umami-driven notes of smoky tamari sauce, and smoky violet scents. The palate shows true Willamette Valley character in this cool climate vintage, leading with woodland characters of damp earth, moss and dark bramble berries. There is a lift to the palate from green peppercorn and black tea, and this wine is amply structured and will show more elegance in a few years." -Decanter
